Graham Nearn, a Lotus Seven distributor, purchased in 1973 the rights to manufacture the Lotus Seven, a car that was originally designed by Colin Chapman. The Lotus Seven was a super-lightweight car that offered the ultimate driving experience at a low cost. It totally embraced the motto "light is right" and offered amazing performances. On track, cars like these could easily keep up with much bigger, much more powerful and expensive cars. As Lotus discontinued its Seven, Caterham started producing their cars.
